Day 6 of 30: Epaulettes

I do love the growing emphasis on shoulders that is emerging in fashion.  Had I told my gangley broad shouldered 15 year old self that I would be uttering those words, she would have been horrified.  What is much more appealing, this time around, is that the styles are simply drawing emphasis and maybe adding some height to the shoulder, they aren't adding the width that you would have found in the power suit of 1989.

See, Little Meghan, isn't that a pretty detail?

Now, I think we need to have a little talk about the sweater vests.

Day 5 of 30: Me all Over

This outfit is the epitome of me and my personal style. The monochromatic color palette, the funky print, the loose fit, the tights, the long pendant necklace...all of it. all me.

Can I get some sympathy that I still have to be wearing a sweater most of the day in the middle of JUNE!?

Also, I have changed the format of the comments section and its seems to make it easier and more streamlined.

4 of 30: Working Weekend

You are looking at the one time I left the house all weekend. Well, unless you count 3 hours later when I went BACK to Home Depot (as we all know, when working on a project, you can never get away with just one trip per day)

Now, THAT outfit. That was a doozy...wow....

I'm positive that I will regret this later, but I have a feeling you guys need a laugh.

I took this picture, for my sister who demanded I send her documentation of the outfit that I was ridiculing to her via HeyTell (download this App, very fun!)

It wasn't until AFTER I sent the picture that she tells me she is at a friend's house with a room full of people who all had a laugh at my Flashdance meets Samurai Warrior attire....FAIL.

On the upside our bathroom is now beautiful. ;)

3 of 30: Pink and Pasty

IN LOVE with this skirt. The color is so amazingly vibrant and the fabric is such a cool ribbed knit. I thought I would pair it with my taupe t-shirt to tone down the voice of the skirt a little bit.

I love layering these necklaces together and the snakeskin belt was perfect as an additional texture.

It was a little chilly this morning so I added my cream fishnet socks to take a little of the edge off.

note to self: Self tanner...STAT!
(for them sad pasty legs!)

2 of 30: Easy Peezy

Is it weird that I consider leopard print a neutral? Its got black and brown and goes with most everything, right?

This is one of my favorite sweaters that I totally forgot about. I'm hoping that through this process I can unearth my favorite work horse pieces and filter out all the pieces that are hiding them.

This cool knotted chain has been hanging on my necklace rack for-ever. I love it. Why have I not been wearing it!?
Sweater: Thrifted
Tank: Thrifted
Jeans: Forever 21
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Thrifted
Necklace: Thrifted

Well, I'm not exploring any new fashion horizons so far, but I'm hoping to get a little more exciting tommorow.

1 of 30: Sweet Home

I have been so anxious to wear this shirt since I received it, so of course I decided that it must be included in my 30 because when it arrived it was everything I had expected and MORE!
What's even better is that all proceeds go to Alabama Tornado Relief!

Pick yours up here and you WONT be sorry.

Dang. Just realized she has suspended taking orders due to an exorbitant number of sales (3000 orders x $20 per shirt)! Way to go girl!!! Looks like she will have more designs soon so check back.

This Alabama girl is proud to help.

Limits.

Apparently, limits seem to be working for me.  Wearing only what my husband picked out? I think I can safely call that a success.
He surprised me in so many ways from his creative color combinations to the daring silhouettes, he gets mad props for a week subjected to my bulging closet and whining.  Not only did I get a new outlook on his sense of style, but I also got a good feeling for what he likes to see on me. Win-win.

On to the next set of limitations. I've decided to take on a 30 for 30 Challenge.  Wearing only 30 items for 30 days. Accessories don't count, shoes do.  The goal is to look at my closet with new eyes having combined my 30 items into multiple outfits and accessorized to the fullest extent. I hope to gain a new appreciation for the items that work and the items that don't. Most importantly, I'm hoping for a little bit of fun. ;)

Can I just tell you that picking these items was NOT fun.  I felt like I was picking the last garments I would ever wear in my life! TORTURE.

It can only get better from here, right?

I'd love company if anybody else feels up to it?! ;)
