The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of

It began on a warm October morning.  Two thrifty girls set out on an adventure to an enchanting land known as The Alameda Point Antique Faire. They went with one mission: Discover for themselves if the legends about this place were true, and maybe even score some treasures along the way.

(Disclaimer: These two much more adorably dressed girls set our scene nicely, don't you think?)

The journey was filled with Giants...

 Oddities...

 Anomalies...

 and Fairy Princesses...

Of course, it exceeded their expectations.

Fast forward two months, those same two girls decide that just visiting this Wonderland would never do.  They had to be a part of it.

Thus, Booth W23 was born.

It's official, we've been swallowed up by the Rabbit Hole....and couldn't be happier.

Turning a Page

This was taken on one of my last days working for someone else. That's right, people, you are looking at the newly full time self employed, Meghan Ryan. YIKES!

To say that I am not scared to death would be a lie, but I am definitely more excited and anxious than anything else. I am excited to start down this path and share the journey with you every step of the way. I hope you will keep me motivated to get dressed every day, because I'm pretty sure you don't want Jammies of the Day posts from here on out.

What else lightens the mood more than some goofy faces....

Like mother...

Like daughter....

I will be posting business and website info in the coming weeks, until then take a fresh look at our vintage shop, Sifted Vintage,  filled with updates! :)

Distracted

I know, I know. It's been forever. Please dont hate me....
Hey, Look over there, something shiny!

Okay, now that I have stealthfully distracted you from the fact that its been like a month since I've posted. This is an outfit that I probably wore about that long ago. (Life has been at a virtual standstill for reasons forthecoming)
I actually cropped this button up top myself. I really love the result. Exept that a shirt is required underneath if you are planning on doing any arm lifting or flalling.

After taking turns crashing each other's poses...

We called a truce.

Movin' on Up.

Last Wednesday, I sent my girl off to Kindergarten.  She is totally ready, and beyond excited to be moving on up to her "Big Girl School".  Not sure if mama is quite ready, but I managed to NOT cry, anyway. Her favorite part, of course, was the bus ride home. That, of course, was my most anxiety inducing part. This anxiety was validated the next day when the school accidentally...(gasp)...PUT HER ON THE WRONG BUS!

Not to worry, she just got the dime tour of the neighborhood and a ride back to school where I picked her up. I made record time driving home from work.

My silly girl...

being, well, silly.

Sporting her new backpack and double french braids.

Cuddled up before heading out for her big day.
(read: death grip on my babies childhood ;)

Pretty happy day for all of us.

How did this sweet baby face....

...turn into this big girl, in, what seems like, a blink of an eye.
Though, tempered with anxiety and nostalgia, I couldn't be prouder of my beautiful baby girl.

Simple.

This old slide, near my sister's house, spoke to me. The way the layers of paint were artfully peeling away, the way each step was proudly molded into the word "American", the white hot metal. It reminded me of a sturdier, easier time when "made in the USA" wasn't a political slogan, it was just fact, and a skinned knee was the worst of our worries.

Mourning Flowers

Headed out on a jet plane tomorrow morning to celebrate the life of my Granny who passed away suddenly two nights ago. She went peacefully in her sleep and I guess that is the way we would all want to go after living a long and blessed life as she did. She was an amazing person and our family will miss her greatly.

I do look forward to seeing family and sharing stories and memories of what a wonderful lady our Granny was.
This is an outfit I've had on the back burner. I think Granny would approve. Modest (covers the knees) with a bit of fun floral.

Love you, Granny.

Knotted up.

Ive become a fan of the knot. I think it is the perfect trick to give a so-so outfit a little bit of pep.  Also, being a huge fan of asymmetry, this is the perfect way to throw everything wonderfully off balance.

If that doesn't work just strap a five year old to your leg,  that's sure to do it.
