Day 25 of 30: Unexpected

So, the scarf obviously MADE this outfit. It was a last minute addition that I wasn't expecting to work so well, but I love the way the colors play with the colors in the top. An unexpected surprise. :)

My poor leopard flats are definitely feelin' the love.

I think my poor flares are as tired of this 30/30 as I am.
I don't think they will be getting a rose this round.

Day 24 of 30: I warned ya.

I knew that at some point during this challenge desperation would set in. Well, ladies and gentlemen you are looking at rock bottom.  Ive fashioned my chambray button down top into a skirt by buttoning it over my hips and tying the arms around my waist. I am actually somewhat impressed by how it turned out and I think it is a trick that I will use in the future...I'm thinking, bigger shirt. ;)

Pop Quiz: Name the most inappropriate place to wear a tiny top crudely fashioned into a skirt?

You got it. Home Depot.

Lemme tell you, I got some looks.
Mostly confused, some amused.
All I can hope for is that I have somehow redeemed myself from the Flashdance Samarai in the eyes of the lovely people in orange.

Day 23 of 30: Glamour

Saturday, Ericka Engelman Couture hosted an event that we called, Unraveled. A behind the scenes look at a couture photo shoot and runway show. It was so much fun!

Isn't she purty? This is Nicole.  She was my favorite model of the lot, and I swear it wasn't because she was wearing all of my creations ;)  She seriously is a really sweet girl as well as professional, gracious....oh, and DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!  Maybe she will remember me when she is strutting down the Catwalks in Paris.

Through an iphone lens this reads way too much like a tragic wedding day. I'm sure it will be much more artistic through the eye of a digital SLR.  Bonus points if you can name this car, year/make/model. Hubby did it based on this pic alone. Impressed?

Long and lean models in sky high platform stilettos.
Watch out for those store signs, Ladies!

(Nicole worked my black tulle Party dress so well it sold right off her body a short hour later!)

AHHH!!... sorry, didn't mean to scare you.
It's amazing how fast the eye adjusts to extraordinary beauty.
I will warn you next time.

Day 22 of 30: Just add cute.

This outfit is in desperate need of some excitement.

How 'bout a cute kid with a too short walking stick?
Done.

Day 21 of 30: Business Casual

Ive always loved it when guys do the whole, "band-t-shirt-under-a-sportcoat" look.

This is my girlie/charity version.

I have a feeling an NKOTB t-shirt might cost me street cred.

Day 20 of 30: The cheese stands alone.

Was hanging out at my favorite in-laws today (nevermind that they are my ONLY inlaws). We had a blast as usual. Dave's mom was nice enough to take these pics of my outfit.  I actually had a colorful scarf tied sort of necklace-like around my neck, but I forgot to put it back on. typical.
I loved pouring over some  really great snap shots of Karen in the 60's posing solo in some beautiful tulle confections before heading out to various college dances.  Awkward moment when my sister in law says, "I just can't imagine wanting to pose  by myself in front of a camera like that"...right, me neither. :)

Day 19 of 30: Irony

Today, our sewing machine repair guy said he felt like he was back in the 60's due to the short skirts that my coworker and I had on.  For some reason I felt the need to flash him my bloomers to prove that I wasn't wearing a skirt that short on it's own.  Somehow showing him my SHORTER bloomers underneath made it better? I don't know.
It made sense at the time.

Day 18 of 30: Prints

These shorts are first timers and I am really wondering why I waited so long?  Then I realize that its been barely 60's for about a week and WAY too chilly for shorts. Oh, and I did a little spray tan on the ole gams. I figured I'd do you guys a favor and take the edge off a bit. I hate the idea of you poor folk having to read this blog through your Ray Bans. ;)

Belt: thrifted
Neckaces: vintage
Bracelet: Thief & Bandit

Hoping our warm streak is here to stay...finally!

Day 17 of 30: Father's Day

This dress was so light and perfect for a warm sunny Father's Day. I gave it a little pep with my cutsy little brooches.

Cluster of vintage brooches

Dave got his Father's Day filled with pancakes, manual labor, and power tools. I'd have to say, it was pretty much his perfect day.
Johnny Cash Tee: Target
Fedora: Target
Button down: 70's vintage, thrifted
Ultra broken in shorts: before time began
 Father's Day Sunday best.
As you can tell from the shorts he is as loyal to his clothes as he is his family, and we love him for that.

Day 16 of 30: Innovation

Hiked this skirt up to wear as a dress.
Coming soon, Top worn as a skirt...
think I'm kidding?

Okay, I am.

No, I'm not.

Guess you will have to wait and see.
The anticipations is killing you, isn't it?

Day 15 of 30: Midway Maniac

I am very happy to start the downhill slope of these thirty days.  I have already gained a huge appreciatioin for my closet and I think I am getting a handle on some pieces that can be filtered in the interest of exposing the real gems.

Just you wait until you see the Flashdance I am gonna do when these 30 days are over.

But for now I am, simply, a Maniac.

Day 14 of 30: Feline with Feathers

Loved this outfit. I felt very much like myself, I love when that happens. This leopard print top has been one of my favorites of the 30 (obviously). It matches pretty much everything I put with it and has a comfortable and flattering cut. Of course I had to add a bit of "odd" with my feather earring.

Speaking of feathers, I got dive-bombed by a mama bird today. Coicidence? I think not.

Day 13 of 30: Superstitious

Typically, I am not really superstitious.
However,I felt kind of weird in this outfit.
Not, surprisingly, because it is a weird outfit. I do realize that the sock-sandal thing is not everyone's cup of tea. I am usually pretty comfortable dressing slightly...different, but,  I don't know, the proportions felt off.
Shirt too short?
Jeans too high?
Socks too argyle?
Who knows.

Apparently, I wasn't the only one. I got, more than a few, confused head to toe body scans from strangers.

I blame it on good ole number 13.

Day 12 of 30: Color Fix

The neutrality was killing me. I had to resort to my trusty red vest to livin things up a little. What's better with red than black and white polka dots? Enter. my new skinny belt. This was my first chance to wear this little cutie and I am elated with the result.

Granny Chic with a touch of sass.

Day 11 of 30: Lazy Sunday

 Sorry for the delayed post.
I had one of those, "Holy-crap-my-traffic-school-completion-is-due-tommorow", kind of evenings.
5 hours later....you know the story.

Anybody else as tired of this shirt as I am?
Lucky, its soft and comfy and "blah" is my favorite color.

Day 9 of 30: Lacking

I think the novelty has worn off.  I am starting to realize what I am lacking and what is unnecessary amongst my 30 items.  For one thing, in the interest of trying to making everything coordinateable (is that a word?), I went pretty neutral with most of my colors and I find my self really wanting some color in my life. I don't even have that many colorful accessories to compensate with!

I really did like this outfit, however.  What I liked most was the chiffon layered over the leopard print. Such a cool effect!
